Each bloom is just 1 inch long, but they arise profusely in loosely-held, ball-shaped clusters that perch atop stately 3- to 4-foot-tall stalks. New blooms open every afternoon, and are so thin and delicately-held that they have earned the common name “Spider Flower”. Excellent contrast to the dense, lush, pointed dark green foliage. And Queen Mix Spider Flower, blooms profusely from early summer all the way to frost in full sun. Cleome Queen Mix Spider Flower is easy to start from seed. Just direct sow the seeds into the sunny, well-drained garden in April, and before you know it, the vigorous plants have shot up several feet and begun to bloom. Very drought-tolerant, they weather the dog days of summer beautifully and keep going right into the cooler temperatures of fall.
